January Monthly Update
Happy New Year
On behalf of the Village Board of Trustees we wish all residents and their families a vey safe and wonderful New Year.
Early Winter Snowstorm
The early winter snowstorm of just a few weeks ago was quickly cleaned up by our Department of Public Works, who continued their street clearing operations throughout the evening to ensure all Village roads were cleared by the morning. Residents are reminded not to have snow removed from their property pushed into the road, but rather to either side. In addition, residents are encouraged to use “snow stakes” to outline their property at the road’s edge. This will assist when the roads are plowed.
Village Meetings Held via Zoom
For the next few months all Village Board meetings will continue to be held via Zoom. The “call-in” information will be listed at the top of each meeting Agenda when they are posted on the Village website. Scheduled upcoming meetings are:
Planning Board: February 1st and March 1st – 7PM
Zoning Board: January 11th, February 8th and March 8th – 7PM
Board of Trustees: January 19th (Tuesday), February 16th (Tuesday) and March 15th – 7PM
OWPD Honored
Police Chief Robert Glaser publicly updated the Board of Trustees at the December meeting, that the Old Westbury Police Department officially received New York State Accreditation status. This high honor is the result of continued excellent management, training and policies that are maintained at the highest level by our Police Department. Throughout New York State there are only a few Departments holding this status. Congratulations to Chief Glaser and his entire Department.
COVID-19 Pandemic – Vaccine Awareness
Sadly, we were not able to leave the corona virus behind as we enter the New Year. We all understand that the effort of everyone is required in order to successfully battle this deadly virus. Village Hall continues to be open to serve our residents, and require that masks be worn at all times while at Village Hall. In December, Governor Cuomo announced the “Vaccinate NY” campaign to spread awareness and encourage New Yorkers to get the vaccine when they are able to. The Vaccinate NY homepage, www.ny.gov/vaccine, will be constantly updated with the latest information, including distribution phase, availability, and information on additional vaccines that may be authorized in the weeks and months ahead. Answers to your questions and true facts related to the vaccine will be found on the NY State Website.
