[ARCHIVED] General Safety Reminders

With the start of the Summer season and Holiday weekend approaching, it is understood that you and your family might be enjoying the outdoors more and at times be away from your home.  The Old Westbury Police Department would like to remind all residents not to forget a few basic safety and security tips to ensure that your home and family are well protected:

  • Confirm that your home alarm system / security monitoring system are properly operational and activated whether you are home or away
  • Maintain security lights on the outside of your home
  • Keep door and windows properly secured
  • Always keep garage doors closed and never leave a key fob in an unattended vehicle
  • Have a neighbor or relative collect your mail or packages that might be arriving to your home

As always, if you see unusual activity or if your Ring camera or camera system captures images of suspicious vehicles or persons of any kind contact the Old Westbury Police Department directly at 626-0200 or 911 for a true emergency.

Share these tips with members of your family and enjoy the Summer ahead.
