We wish to update you regarding a recently added security program.
The Board is always evaluating enhanced tactical approaches to support policing and increase public safety. For example, the LPR (License Plate Reader) system instituted by the Board over the past two years rings our entire Village and surveys all points of entry in real-time. This system has already proven invaluable in solving crime and generating criminal arrests.
We recently approved a program for security patrols to supplement our existing police patrols throughout the Village. This program will begin immediately by utilizing three safety patrol vehicles. We will assess the Village’s needs on an ongoing basis.
It is critical to understand that while the individuals being utilized in this program all have law enforcement backgrounds they are not replacements to our police officers. They are being used to put more “eyes” on our Village in a financially efficient manner. The cars used in this program will be clearly marked “security” with flashing yellow lights.
While the Board continues to proactively reassess safety measures we need all residents to do their part. Please ensure that your alarms are on and camera systems working properly. Always secure your possessions. Cars should be locked at all times and key fobs must not be left in your vehicles. Always report any suspicious activity directly to our police department or call 911 which routes into our department’s headquarters.
The safety and security of the Village and its residents is always the Board’s top priority. As we approach the holidays we want to wish everyone a safe and healthy holiday season.
