[ARCHIVED] September Monthly Update

Community Picnic:

On September 1st, the Village of Old Westbury held its annual Community Picnic at the Old Westbury Gardens. The Village Board thanks all of our residents who attended for a great community gathering!

A special thanks to Old Westbury Gardens President Nancy Costopulos and her staff for helping us make this such a successful night. We’d also like to recognize the Wheatley School’s string quartet and the team of Caroline Purr and Charlie Falcon for their wonderful performances throughout the night.

We look forward to seeing you in the future all at our next Village event!

Hurricane Season:

As we enter into the peak of hurricane season, the Village would like to provide residents with the necessary information and preparedness tips.

The Village urges residents to take precautions by preparing a household hurricane plan and ensure that your family is equipped in the event of an emergency.

Visit Ready.gov for assistance with creating a hurricane plan and for more hurricane preparedness tips.

Grant Funding:

As a result of efforts made by the Mayor, the Board of Trustees has secured $200,000 of grant funding for the Village of Old Westbury from Senator Anna Kaplan for improvements to be made to Bacon Road in 2023, including the widening and resurfacing of the road through reconstruction.

The Village is always working with its partners at all levels of government to pursue opportunities for grant funding for important Village projects.

Water Improvements:

The water source for the Village of Old Westbury is pumped from six wells located throughout the community. Due to our water system’s reconstruction and upgrades over these past several years, the Village’s system is the most modern and robust in Nassau.

The installment of a backup generator at Well House No.3 will be complete by this November. This generator will assist the Village by hardening the systems reliability and will ensure the continuation of reliable water service throughout the Village.

Road Pavement Updates:

Beginning this month, two new pavement projects within the Village are scheduled to occur. The projects will take place on Red Ground Road (between the North Service Road to Glen Cove Road) and North Service Road (between Wheatley Road to Red Ground Road). The pavement projects were awarded to the Village by Nassau County.

The Village will update accordingly via the Village website and push notifications regarding any possible updates or delays. To stay up to date, download the VOW app today.
