There have been numerous high end vehicles reported stolen, across North Shore Communities of Nassau County so far this year. Car thieves have been targeting affluent communities throughout the Tri-State area, in search of high end vehicles to steal. Please help us prevent vehicle theft and be sure to secure your vehicle, it’s key or key fob and do not leave valuables inside. 100% of stolen vehicles in Old Westbury this year, were unlocked with the key fob left inside. This is generally the case in most of the thefts in surrounding communities as well. The Old Westbury Police Department continues to monitor, assess and gather information on vehicle thefts. This information is then utilized to deploy resources efficiently, to best combat vehicle theft. We urge our residents to remain vigilant and please do not leave key fobs in the car! This small step will prevent the majority of stolen vehicles. Please notify the Old Westbury Police without delay, of any suspicious activity, people or vehicles. Together we can reduce these types of thefts. Please see the attachment for further vehicle theft prevention tips.
