[ARCHIVED] Stolen Vehicles

Over the past few days there were two reported stolen vehicles. Both occurred during daytime hours and both vehicles were unlocked with the key fob left inside.  We remind you to lock your vehicle and to NEVER leave the KEY FOB inside.  If you are able to track your vehicle, please take a moment to check your account or app to ensure its up to date and working properly.  Tracking has been successful in recovering stolen vehicles. The sooner the tracking can begin helps improve the chances of locating the vehicles.  Tracking has allowed us to alert our law enforcement partners in other jurisdictions and states(NJ). This has resulted in vehicle recoveries and arrests.   Unfortunately stolen vehicles continue to plaque our communities.  The police have made numerous stops on suspicious vehicles, people and have been involved in several chases over the past few weeks.  The police department is committed to maintaining public safety and will continue its intensive patrols of targeted areas of the village.  The police department will continue stopping  vehicles in accordance with New York State laws.  The police department encourages you to report any suspicious vehicles, people or activity without delay.           Old Westbury Police 516-626-0200
