On Tuesday May 31, 2022 the Old Westbury Police arrested Oketo Orlando Blair Jr. an 18 year old student from Westbury High School.
The arrest was made after school administration notified the Old Westbury Police Department of an online threat. The threat was made on the Westbury High School Twitter account, where the student expressed his desire to conduct a violent act towards students and faculty members.
A thorough investigation was conducted by the Old Westbury Police Detectives with assistance provided by the New York State Police, the Nassau County Police, and the Nassau County District Attorney’s office.
Defendant was charged with Making a Terroristic Threat and Aggravated Harassment 2nd Degree. An Extreme Risk Protection Order was requested by Old Westbury Detectives and granted by a judge. This order prevents the defendant from purchasing any firearms. Defendant will be arraigned on Wednesday June 1, 2022 at First District Court in Hempstead.
The Old Westbury Police Department was in close contact and worked with the Westbury School district administration throughout the investigation. At this time there are no known threats to the school district, the Old Westbury community or the surrounding communities.
