As we enter into another summer weekend, the Old Westbury Police Department wants to share some information and reminders with you. Over the past few weeks, we have increased our patrols on days and times based on intelligence gathered and crime trends. We will continue to add patrols as needed and continuously analyze the most current crime trends and information we gather and deploy our resources accordingly. The last burglary that occurred in Old Westbury was on July 30. There have been several burglaries in surrounding towns and villages since July 30th and they have fit the same pattern of burglaries that have occurred in Old Westbury. Stolen vehicle activity has also been active in the area. Although the last stolen vehicle that occurred in Old Westbury was on July 16th, we have had a number of stolen vehicles enter the village, most likely looking to steal cars. The LPR cameras have alerted officers. In a few of these incidents, the vehicles fled from officers that located the stolen vehicles driving on village streets. In these incidents the vehicles were last seen fleeing west towards NYC. The Old Westbury Police Department is committed to working with our residents to keep you safe. Please report any suspicious activity promptly to the Old Westbury Police Department 516-626-0200
