Auto accident:
On Saturday October 1, 2022 at approximately 710pm the Old Westbury Police received a call reporting a two car auto accident, with one vehicle that left the roadway. The location was at I.U. Willets Rd and Old Westbury Rd. Old Westbury officers responded and a subsequent investigation at the scene lead to the arrest of one of the drivers for driving while intoxicated(DWI). The intoxicated driver had to be taken the the hospital prior to his arrest processing and the other driver involved was not injured.
Burglary investigation:
On Saturday October 1, 2022 at approximately 1045pm, the Old Westbury Police Department received a call reporting a burglary had occurred. The homeowner had left their house at about 7pm for dinner and discovered the break in upon arriving home around 1030pm. The unknown subject or subjects entered by breaking a window on the second floor. The homeowner’s elderly parents were home in their room, on the first floor at the time and unaware at the time that someone had broken in. As a reminder, please set your alarm system if you have one. There was no alarm activation received for this home. If anyone has cameras in the area of Saddle Ridge Road and Horseshoe Road, please check for any suspicious vehicles or people between 700pm-1030pm and notify the Old Westbury Detective Bureau 516-626-0200. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
