The Old Westbury Police Department reports locating a missing vulnerable adult, on Saturday, November 12, 2022. At 11:07 PM an Old Westbury Police Officer on patrol pulled into the Mobil gas station located at 3 Jericho Turnpike in Old Westbury. While at the gas station the officer was approached by an elderly female, who asked the officer for directions and said she had run out of gas. While speaking with the female the Officer observed that she was confused, lost, having difficulty speaking and unable to make any statements that made sense. A Northwell ambulance was parked at the Mobil station. The Officer walked over and requested the Paramedics assess the medical condition of the female. The Officer then made a vehicle and driver’s license inquiry of the female, using the mobile computer in the police car. The New York State database informed the Officer that the female was a missing vulnerable adult from Suffolk County, that has possible Dementia. Missing was reported to have left her home earlier in the day at around 9:00 AM. Contact was made with the Suffolk County Police as well as the female’s sister. The sister lived locally in Nassau County and drove to the Mobil gas station, confirming the identity of the missing female. The female was taken to Winthrop hospital by Northwell ambulance for further medical evaluation.
