The Old Westbury Police Department reports the arrest of a Westbury man and a Brooklyn woman who were in possession of a stolen vehicle. The arrest occurred on Saturday December 17, 2022 at 6:30pm in Old Westbury. Old Westbury Officers were alerted by a Flock Advanced license plate reader (ALPR) that a stolen vehicle had entered onto Morgan Drive. Officers responded to the area in an attempt to locate the vehicle, spotted it traveling westbound on Morgan Drive and pulled the vehicle over. The vehicle was occupied by a male subject, identified as Daniel I. Gonzalez, 25, of 281 Brook Street Westbury, NY and a female subject, identified as Lashara Williams, 23, of 283 Stillwell Avenue Brooklyn, NY. Both subjects were taken into custody with out injuries to officers or the defendants, despite one of the subjects resisting arrest. Defendant Gonzalez was charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd degree, a D Felony, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th degree, an E Felony, Unauthorized use of a Motor Vehicle 3rd degree a class A misdemeanor, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (crack) 7th degree, a class A misdemeanor and Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, a violation. Defendant was transported to a Nassau County Police Department detention facility, to be held until his arraignment at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead, on Sunday December 18, 2022. Defendant Gonzalez was previously arrested by the Old Westbury Police on November 28, 2022 when he was also located in a stolen vehicle. Defendant Williams was charged with Obstruct Governmental Administration, Resisting Arrest and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (crack)7th degree all class A misdemeanors. Subject Williams was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead on January 9, 2023. The vehicle the defendants were in, had been reported stolen from East Meadow, NY on December 14, 2022. This incident highlights the use of technology, increased police patrols in response to recent criminal activity and the quick response of our officers to quickly locate and apprehend the above defendants.
