Earlier this morning the Old Westbury Police Department received a hit on a stolen vehicle from one of the recently deployed license plate readers for a vehicle on Red Ground Road. The reported stolen vehicle, a white BMW, had been stolen out of the Nassau County 6th precinct area on 1/4/23. A village police unit that was canvassing the area looking for this stolen vehicle observed the vehicle turning onto Horseshoe Road from Old Farm Lane and attempted to stop it. Ultimately the stolen vehicle struck the stopped police unit which had been positioned to block it from leaving the area by partially driving off the roadway. The damage to the police unit and injuries to the involved officer were fortunately minor. The stolen vehicle which was occupied by several individuals, fled westbound on the Long Island Expressway.
