The Old Westbury Police Department reports the arrest of a Massapequa man on Friday January 13, 2023, for a series of high end watch thefts that occurred in Old Westbury and Garden City. The thefts occurred between July and December of 2022. According to Detectives the Defendant Javier Ricardo Velez-Gomez was working as a wallpaper installer in high end homes, where the 4 victims were all known to each other. While working in the homes the defendant allegedly stole several high-end watches. A thorough joint investigation was conducted by the Old Westbury and Garden City Detectives which led to the arrest and closing of all four cases involving the defendant. The Defendant Javier Ricardo Velez-Gomez is charged with 1 count of Grand Larceny 3rd degree a class D Felony for the Old Westbury theft and 3 counts of Grand Larceny 3rd degree a class D Felony for the Garden City thefts. The Defendant was transported by Detectives, to Nassau County Police Headquarters Detention Facility, where he was held until his arraignment on Saturday January 14, 2023, at Nassau County First District Court, 99 Main St. Hempstead, NY.
