Earlier this week Police Officer Thomas Milin received the Distinguished Service Award from the Nassau County Municipal Police Chiefs Association. In February, Police Officer Milin and Police Officer Peter Calvello apprehended an individual for attempted burglary of an Old Westbury Village residence. Our department had been notified of suspicious activity in a residential yard after a resident saw people on his camera feed. The suspect ran away, but after a foot pursuit and a brief struggle Officers Milin and Calvello were able to apprehend him, thereby preventing a burglary from occurring within the village. Officer Milin was also recognized with a departmental Meritorious Police Service Award and Officer Calvello received an Excellent Police Duty Award.
