[ARCHIVED] Arrest

The Old Westbury Police Department (OWPD) received a call at 4:23 a.m. on June 12 from a security company monitoring cameras at a Rolling Hill Lane resident’s home.  An unknown man was observed on the property via a remote camera feed.  Police were notified and responding officers began a systematic search for the suspect and observed a fence damaged in a rear yard. They continued their search onto the property of the Glen Oaks Country Club where they were able to locate the man, who attempted to flee on a bicycle.  After a brief struggle, during which one officer suffered minor injuries, the suspect was placed into custody.

After initially refusing to cooperate or identify himself, the man was identified as Vincent Dougherty, 63, of Ronkonkoma.  Dougherty has an extensive criminal record, including numerous felony arrests and is presently on parole with an active warrant for parole absconding related to an arrest for a burglary in Southampton.  Due to his extensive criminal record, Dougherty had been sentenced to 20 years to life in prison and is presently on lifetime parole.

The Old Westbury Police Department charged Dougherty with two counts of Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree and Violation of Parole.   Dougherty will be held in custody pending arraignment in First District Court on June 13, 2023.
