A message from Chief Cameron regarding suspicious activity

Last evening shortly before 7 pm our department received a call from a resident regarding a suspicious vehicle occupied by five young men that had stopped at their residence.   Officers from both the day and evening tour immediately responded to that area of the village and promptly located the vehicle, which was stopped for an investigation.  The occupants of the vehicle were all identified, and they were completely cooperative with our officers.  While they did acknowledge that they had stopped briefly near this residence, we do not believe that these individuals had any malicious intent or that they intended to commit a crime within the village.

Residents are reminded to immediately notify our department of any activity that they deem to be suspicious to enable us to investigate.  While this incident was non-criminal in nature, it does highlight how effective the collaboration between our residents and our department can be to investigate suspicious activity.  Our goal is to not only keep our village residents safe, but to also make them feel safe and confident in the knowledge that our department will respond effectively and rapidly whenever necessary and will hold criminals accountable whenever they enter our village.
