New Items of Interest
“Project of the Year Award” Received:
The Village of Old Westbury was awarded the annual “Project of the Year Award” by the New York State Association of Water Works via a Zoom award ceremony for the recently completed 1 Million Gallon Water Storage Tank at Well #6. Accepting the award on behalf of the Village was Mayor Fred J. Carillo and Superintendent of Water Tom O’Connor. In their remarks, the Mayor and Tom O’Connor thanked the entire Water Department and Department of Public Works employees who worked together throughout the project on a wide range of assignments to ensure a successful outcome.
Department of Public Works:
The employees of the Village’s Department of Public Works under the direction of Superintendent Danny Alves, have had a very busy and productive Spring. Besides the normal maintenance and policing of the Village’s roadways the crew has been busy planting flowers and performing some early Spring trimming at Village Hall and weekly grass cutting throughout the Village. In addition, the various flower beds around the Village have been cleaned and addressed. Additional projects that were accomplished by the Department this Spring included monitoring the Old Westbury Pond Project, placement of wood chips at several locations throughout the Village, daily maintenance of the Village-owned vehicles and most recently, the installation of a plexiglass divider at the Village Hall main counter to ensure everyone’s safety when visiting Village Hall.
